The problem

Running is simple. It's just not always easy.

Anyone who has put in mile after mile with little improvement, or injury after injury, has wondered whether running is worth it. Most of the time the problem isn’t the runner. It’s running the same pace, run after run, and expecting a different result.

The method

5 Speed Running and Ideal Energy Training.

5 Speed Running was built to fix that. Its Ideal Energy Training gives each runner the right mix of energy paces, so they reach their correct pace safely and develop as a whole runner.

Now Go Run

The method, online, for pennies a day.

Now Go Run brings that method online: tailored workouts, weekly guides and flexible coach support, without sacrificing your family, work or hobbies. Everything we make is built in response to what our runners want and need. That’s how we’ve always done it, and how we always will.

Meet your coach

Coach Ken Rickerman.

Coach Ken created the 5 Speed Running method and has coached runners since 1990, from people coming back after an injury to busy executives with little time to spare.

His approach is simple: give each runner the ideal workouts for where they are today, then support them with coaching content shaped by the questions real members ask. Some runners have trained with him for over ten years.

Coaching since 1990, when he began training with the San Fernando Valley Track Club in Van Nuys, California, under legendary coach Laszlo Tabori, a former world-record holder who coached runners from the mile to the marathon. His methods are also shaped by Roy Benson, Jim Hunt and British coach Frank Horwill.

USATF Certified Coach, and Head Coach of 5 Speed Running in Southern California.

Pioneered remote coaching with his own tracking tools and has since trained thousands of runners around the world. Locally, he sponsors community races and has run USATF coaching events for elementary schools.

How we coach

Guidance that meets you where you are.

Whether you’re lacing up after an injury or building toward a race, coaching starts with where you are today: the right workouts, clear cues on form and stability, and support when you need it.

What we believe.

Optimum running lifestyle support comes down to four ideas. They guide every workout, guide and coaching session we create.

01

Keep it simple

Running is simple. Your training should be too: clear workouts, clear guides, and no unnecessary complexity.

02

Tailor it to you

Your paces come from your experience, current fitness and goals, not a generic plan written for someone else.

03

Build the whole runner

Energy, skill and form, stability, mobility and mindset work together, so you run great and feel great throughout your life.

04

Fit your life

Make running a priority without sacrificing your family, work or hobbies to too much discipline, structure or time.

Anyone can write a training plan. We've spent twenty years learning what keeps runners running: the right energy, simple guidance and a coach who answers. That's an ideal running routine.

I've been working with Coach Ken for 10 years now. He's increased my distance, improved my running times and improved my overall running enjoyment with his expertise.
Deb Brown

I'm so pumped about how I felt. Not so much about the time, it's decent, but more about how totally easy it felt. Usually I struggle. It was nice! I'm very happy with you and my workouts.
Michelle
Attorney, New Orleans, LA
As a busy executive it is critical to be efficient and effective with your time. Ken's program worked well with my schedule and helped me achieve my goals.
